In a way, I'm not surprised they did what they did in GoT. They were hinting at it last week and Dany has always been very much an Alexander the Great figure. Her fall into grief and anger didn't really feel earned though, and often this is a cop-out when female characters get too powerful. I'm disappointed with how they handled it but, as I said, not surprised.
Outside of that, I actually liked the episode. The Lannisters all shined here. People got very good deaths. Arya's whole arc in the episode was good. If the Dany thing had been handled better, I'd be okay with it. I guess they just couldn't help themselves.
